Frequently Asked Questions

Is home staging a good investment? There’s no question about it!

Here are the answers to other common FAQs.

Will home staging help sell my house?

National statistics show that staged homes sell anywhere between 73% and 87% quicker than homes that are not staged—and for upwards of 20% more than their non-staged counterparts. Homes staged by Asheville Home Staging sell, on average, a full eight weeks faster than most homes on the market in Western North Carolina. Furthermore, real estate experts estimate that the return on an investment in home staging is a whopping 300%! While there are, of course, no absolute guarantees, these numbers are pretty undeniable, and they illustrate that home staging is one of the most valuable things you can do to help sell your house fast and for a prime price.

How long will it take to stage my home?

At Asheville Home Staging, we work faster than most home staging companies. We have a full inventory of furniture and accessories ready to go at a moment’s notice—so you don’t have to wait for us to rent or order items. And, we own a moving truck and have a talented team of helpers who can get it loaded up in no time. Typically, we take between two and four days to complete a job, with most homes finished in just 48 hours.

Which rooms can you stage?

We can stage any room in your home, from the living room to the kitchen to the bedrooms and bathrooms, including outdoor spaces. While we will stage just one or two individual rooms if requested, we typically recommend that you stage your entire home (our Standard Package covers a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house). Why do we suggest every room? The way to sell your home, and sell it fast, is to ensure that it gets seen by buyers in the first place. And the way to do that is to make every aspect and angle of it shine in its listing photos—and then shimmer just as bright, if not brighter, in person. When each room is ready for its close-up, buyers will be more likely to book a showing (surveys say 38% more likely) and better able (polls say 83% better) to visualize your property as their future home.

Where do the furniture and other items you use for staging come from?

We own a large inventory of furniture, textiles, lamps, rugs, artwork, accessories, and plants for every room—it’s all carefully and lovingly stored in our storage space. We regularly scour small boutiques and quality retailers for the perfect classic yet current pieces to add to our curated collection, and we’re always updating our stock so that we have anything your home could need right at our fingertips.

Can you use my furniture and artwork?

If you’re currently living in the house you wish to stage, we may be able to incorporate some of the pieces you already own into the design. However, we will make the design recommendations we believe are best when it comes to selling your home. That may mean we are able to use your items or a combination of your items and our own, or that we suggest you begin with a clean slate and bring in all new furniture and home decor that we provide. Not using your pieces is never a comment on your taste or style; whatever you like is just right for you and your home. But remember, buyers want to envision themselves living there, and depersonalizing your rooms in favor of universal designs is key.

What happens to the items in my home that you don’t use for the staging?

You will need to safely store any items that are not included in the home staging in a way that does not detract from potential buyers’ experiences of viewing your house.

What do I need to provide in order to have you stage my home?

All we need is access to your home, and to you for a walk-through and consultation! You don’t have to provide any furniture or decor if you don’t have it or want to; we’ve got it covered.

What is Asheville Home Staging’s design aesthetic?

We stage each house in a design that is appropriate to the age and style of the home, and that highlights its best features while hiding any flaws. We don’t design cookie-cutter spaces that look just the same as the next listing, and the next, and the next. Our designs are lively and eclectic, authentic yet aspirational; just the kind of spaces that buyers can imagine themselves living in—the kind of spaces they’ve always wanted to call home.

Do you take photos of the home once it is staged?

No, we do not provide photography services.

Can you furnish my Airbnb or VRBO?

Yes! Our primary service is staging a home for sale, but we can also furnish your Airbnb or VRBO with for-purchase home decor that will help attract first-time renters and repeat visitors. Our stylish yet liveable designs will ensure that your listing stands out on crowded vacation rental websites and your renters feel at home away from home.
